MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH: STAGES OF GRIEF
FLUX FACTORY
April 9, 2015
Show curated by Kathryn Sclavi
David Bowie died on January 10, 2016. I did not know him personally but his death was a big deal to me, as one of my favorite musicians to date and a man of extreme sexual attraction. These projections distort images of the pop star with glass, crystal, and other charged ‘healing’ devices to cope with the grief of losing the celebrated individual, drawing parallels and inspiration from Wilhelm Reich’s orgone energy to ‘heal’ cancerous patients to providing world peace.

Untitled Hand Movie (Flux Manifesto), 2015, by Caroline Partamian
Hand Movie (Flux Manifesto) is a reaction to Partamian’s residency term at Flux Factory. The time spent at Flux could at moments be indeterminate, random, lonely, but also reassuring, taking comfort in flux. A new sequence of events lie behind every door, every action, every sound, every dream. A set of commands in the video demands of the viewer to participate in the actions which he is dictated and indulge in the uncertainty of how it makes him feel. What do you see?

OTION FRONT yes, chef VIDEO SCREENING
JANUARY 24, 2015
OTION FRONT (1196 MYRTLE AVENUE, BROOKLYN, NY 11221)
boredom prevails. created during 2015 residency at flux factory. featured in Otion Front studio's monthly danceart-video screening. YES, CHEF was an evening of video works illuminating the emotional and varied ways we relate to the food that sustains us. Through taste and distaste, this is an open-forum exploration of the tactile, sensorial, and emotional avenues navigated by our own pleasure, anxiety, and science.

Tree Mirage
Proposed Site: Arcosanti, Mayer, AZ
The goal of our project is to create a sense of relief in the desert and a place for meditation and reflection using important sight lines. In the desert one can quickly find themselves in harsh and unforgiving environments. We drew inspiration from Bugs Bunny’s missed left turn at Albuquerque that detours him from the beaches and resorts where he intended to arrive, landing him in Germany instead of Las Vegas, or the Sahara desert instead of Miami Beach, chasing mirages in the desert rather than The Mirage Hotel.
